Jayne has been offering help with Citizenship education with primary schools across Whoberley ward. With her colleage colleague Cllr Pervez Akhtar she welcomed pupils and teachers from Allesley Hall Primary to the Council House on 18 July, following their work with the school on citizenship. She is coming back into the school in the next academic year to keep up the initiative.
It was lovely to receive the following letter from the Deputy Head:
Dear Madam Mayor and Councillor Jayne Innes,
I am writing on behalf of all the children from Allesley Hall Primary School who visited you at the Council House at the end of term. They had an amazing time and wish to thank you for your kindness, your time and the opportunity to hand deliver their letters to you. It gave the children a clear reason to write and we all hope that their pleas will be taken seriously and that together with support from Jayne and Pervez, some improved road safety measures will follow.
May I take this opportunity to say that the children felt listened to and welcomed and could not wait to tell their classmates every detail about their trip. Your knowledge about your role and the history behind it, Madam Mayor, was truly a highlight for us all.
Thank you once again – and to all the staff who helped to make our visit so memorable.
