This is a crucial time for local Labour Party Members. The time to choose a candidate to succeed our current MP, is the opportunity to shape the future of our Party, and also shape the future of our city and our nation.
Labour politics in Coventry is the thread running through my adult life. I am already well-known right across our city as a passionate advocate for Labour values. I combine this with a national political profile, and a wide range of campaigning achievements that have already made a difference to many thousands of people.
That’s why I’m standing to be your next Parliamentary Candidate.
Our current MP, Geoffrey Robinson, has made a huge contribution to national politics, and leaves a lasting legacy across our city and wider region.
Now is the time for a new kind of MP for Coventry North West.
Our constituency was created in 1945, yet we have never had an MP who lives here. Coventry North West is where I live and have worked throughout my adult life, and where Matt and I chose to bring up our family.
Localness matters because the only way to really understand the lives and fears of local people, is to be one of us.
With your backing, one day I’ll be making speeches in Parliament, and helping draft legislation. And when I do, I’ll be drawing on those conversations you and I have been having in the cafes and social clubs, and on the doorsteps of Coventry North West for over 25 years.
I’m standing because I enjoy working with you for the good of our city, and I want us to build on our successes to make an even bigger difference, both locally and nationally. The relationship between an MP and their local Labour Party should be a partnership. I’m offering you that partnership.
I’ll be a new kind of MP for Coventry North West. I’m asking for your support.
